Privacy policy
Summary
Every calculator on this site runs inside your browser. The salary, pension, hours and personal circumstances you enter are used by your own device to produce the answer and are then discarded. They are not transmitted to us, not written to any database, and not shared with anyone. There are no accounts and no sign-up.
Who runs this site
KnowMyPay is published at knowmypay.co.uk by Sravya, who is the data controller for the limited processing described below. Enquiries about this policy should be sent to enquiries.csr@gmail.com.
What we never collect
- The figures entered into any calculator, including salary, pension contributions, hours worked, benefits and household circumstances
- Names, addresses, dates of birth, National Insurance numbers or tax references
- Payment details, since nothing on this site is for sale
- Account credentials, since there are no accounts
What data is collected
Server logs. The hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested: the address requested, the date and time, the referring page, the browser and operating system, and an IP address. This is used to operate and secure the service and to understand aggregate traffic levels. It is not used to build a profile of an individual.
Local browser storage. Some pages remember a small display preference on your own device. That information stays on your device, is never transmitted, and can be cleared through your browser settings at any time.
Shared result links. Selecting "Copy link" produces a web address that contains the figures you entered, so the result can be reproduced by whoever opens it. That link is generated on your device. It reaches a third party only if you choose to send it. Treat such a link as containing your figures.
Cookies and consent
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. No consent banner is shown because there is currently nothing to consent to.
Should advertising or analytics be introduced, this policy will be updated before they are enabled, and where the law requires consent it will be sought before any non-essential technology is set.
Third parties
Hosting. Pages are served by a hosting provider that processes the server log data described above on our behalf.
Fonts. Typefaces are served from this site's own hosting, so no request is made to a third-party font service. Google's handling of that request is governed by its own privacy policy.
No other third-party service receives data from this site. There are no trackers, no advertising networks and no social media embeds.
Advertising and commercial relationships
This site currently carries no advertising and no affiliate links, and receives no payment to feature, rank or recommend any product. If that changes, the relationship will be disclosed clearly on the affected pages and in this policy.
Data sources
Tax rates, thresholds and benefit figures are taken from published government sources including gov.uk, HM Revenue and Customs, the Department for Work and Pensions, Revenue Scotland and the Welsh Revenue Authority. These are public reference figures and contain no personal data.
Your rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to be informed about processing, to request access to personal data held about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability.
Because the calculator figures are never received and no accounts exist, in most cases no personal data about you is held beyond transient server logs. Requests may be sent to enquiries.csr@gmail.com and will be answered within one month.
Complaints may be made to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority.
Visitors in the European Economic Area hold equivalent rights under the EU GDPR. Visitors in California are advised that no personal information is sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Children
This site is intended for adults dealing with their own pay, tax and household finances. It is not directed at children, and no data is knowingly collected from them.
Retention
Server logs are retained by the hosting provider for a limited period for security and operational purposes and are then deleted. No other records are kept.
Changes to this policy
Any change is reflected in the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how data is handled will be summarised here.
