KnowMyPay

About and editorial policy

KnowMyPay publishes 162 free UK money calculators. Each one shows the steps behind its answer, states the tax year it applies to, and cites the official rule it follows.

Who publishes this site

KnowMyPay is written and maintained by Sravya, Founder and editor, KnowMyPay. Every calculator and guide is researched from primary sources, built and reviewed by the same person, so responsibility for the content sits with a named individual rather than an anonymous byline.

Why the site exists

Most UK money calculators return a figure and no means of checking it. That matters, because the result often informs a decision about a job, a pension or a property. Every tool here is built to be auditable: the working is shown, the rule is cited, and the date of the last review is displayed.

How a calculator is built

Each tool begins with the primary source, ordinarily the relevant gov.uk, HM Revenue and Customs, Department for Work and Pensions, Revenue Scotland or Welsh Revenue Authority page. The current rules are encoded, the arithmetic is tested against official worked examples where they exist, and a clear explanation is written alongside the result. Rates are held in shared modules so that a single change propagates consistently across every tool that depends on it.

Corrections

Reports of an incorrect figure are treated as the highest priority. Please send the calculator name, the figures entered and the expected result with its source through the contact page. Confirmed errors are corrected and the review date on the affected tool is updated.

Legal

The basis on which figures are provided is set out in the terms and disclaimer. How data is handled, which is minimally, is described in the privacy policy. The calculation approach is documented in how we calculate.
